An institutional update from African Parks:
A.T. Kearney: In the latter part of 2015 A.T. Kearney, a global management consulting firm assisted us on a pro-bono basis to review the organisational structure to help ensure that we are able to continue on our trajectory and reach our long-term objectives. We are pleased with the outcomes which have been presented to and approved by the Board of APN and shared with the Boards of AP-US and SAPF. One of the outcomes of the above was to make each of the three Boards (APN, SAPF and AP-US) distinct with no overlapping Board members. As a result, Robert-Jan van Ogtrop has stood down as Chairman of SAPF but remains Chairman of APN; we are thrilled to announce that René Hooft Graafland has assumed the role of Chairman of SAPF, and Ron Ulrich remains Chairman of AP-US.
Recruitment: In line with the A.T. Kearney recommendations, Egon Zehnder has offered their services on a pro-bono basis to conduct an international search for two key posts: Director of Operations, and Director of Fundraising. The US Board is also undertaking a selection process for a senior development person in the US in the wake of Nicole Mollo’s departure.
Communications: We are weeks away from launching our new website and increasing our digital presence to better position and increase visibility of African Parks and the multi-faceted work we do across Africa. You’ll start to see, beginning with these monthly updates, more frequent communications from AP, a slow and steady increase of our presence online including social media, and online fundraising appeals. As always, we are open to any comments or feedback on this along the way.
